Mike Heintz - Artist Statement

Mike is native to the ranch lands of South Dakota, country he has recently returned to after spending most of his career as a working artist in Laguna Beach, California. Heintz earned his MFA in jewelry design and metal smithing in 1975 from Cal State, Fullerton. Mike exhibited for 45 years at the Sawdust Festival in Laguna, whose vibrant art scene attracts thousands of visitors each year to its famed galleries and art festivals. Additionally, Heintz exhibited at the famed Festival of Arts in Laguna for 13 years. The Dan Miller Gallery represented Heintz for a number of years as well. Two years ago, Mike returned to his native South Dakota and has now set up his studio in the legendary Black Hills.

Mike's superb metal smithing skills and eye for detail come together to create stunning works of wearable art. The majority of his pieces are commissioned works designed by the artist in concert with the desires of the client and the qualities of each stone. Jewelry collectors return frequently to add to their collections with unique pieces created to suit their particular style.
